I'm going to go out on a limb and I'm going to say something that not everyone will agree with but.I think that what started as a simple home game years down the road from now will be a franchise on par with that of Star Trek and Star Wars. I know their story is basically been wrapped up for the most part and that we might see cameos from time to time but that just kind of means that their story isn't over and if their story isn't over then that means the story of the Mighty Nein isn't over and that means the story of the group that we meet in campaign 3 isn't over and that means the stories of the Crownkeepers isn't over either.

The final one shot that we saw with the wedding was I feel the close of the story of Vox Machina and I thought we would never see them again and that kind of was bittersweet but now with the comics, the animated series, The Funko pops, and who knows what else coming down the pipeline I feel a renewed vigour and excitement for them. It's honestly been a really weird 10 hours ever since I saw this trailer and I can't quite put the words to the place that my mind is in which is funny seeing as how long this comment is.

I think this animated series is going to be that's sort of Pivot Point moment for a lot of people who normally wouldn't watch an animated series but will find a moment like that which just hooks them and sends them on this beautiful adventure that I and so many others have been on ever since this whole critical role thing started. That moment for some reason despite all the other amazingly emotional and awesome moments in the first campaign was what really sent this pulse through me that really made me realize how at home I felt with the show and how much it really made me feel. The moment that specifically made me pivot was and I will try to be as vague as possible with this and I will only use a handful of words and those words are: Vax Keyleth Hair. The first campaign very much was a super silly this won't last long may as well enjoy it hahahahaha kind of a thing for me that I paid attention to and only really started sitting down and thinking more about the closer we got to the end. I watched all of it for sure but I wasn't as serious about it and because of that my memories aren't as burned into my brain as they were with campaign two. Sometimes I honestly sort of feel a bit like Matt in that I don't feel like I actually really experienced the first campaign at all and that I don't have any right to be talking about it or to be a fan of it and that I don't necessarily belong here because I wasn't as into the first campaign as I was into the second campaign and didn't put nearly as much love into it as a lot of other more dedicated fans here did.

Then again my expectations for merch have kind of been a bit unrealistic as of late but hey you kind of got to dream big with stuff like this right? Imagine if we get an actual like flying carpet or models of Percy's guns or we we get Kiki's antlers as an item from Amazon or we get Vex/Vax's feathers or Spirit Halloween puts together costumes from Vox Machina or we finally get that Tarot deck that I've been wanting that's a full 78 card deck or we get more really cool Funko Pops or like just something even crazier that I haven't thought of. I'm also super super super excited for all of the brand new merch that will absolutely and totally because why wouldn't you do that be released with this animated series. I think those new ways are going to be both scary and beautiful and I honestly can't wait to see what they are. The old way of things is going to kind of be swept away I think by this animated series because there's something going to be a whole lot more eyes on it and hopefully more opportunities for the company to grow in unexpected ways.

Maybe my expectations are a little bit higher than they normally should be or maybe I'm just caught up in all the hype because that's kind of what I do but it honestly feels like we're standing in front of the launch tube for the Genesis Device that's going to both destroy a lot of stuff and yet create new things. We are about to witness the full power of Amazon promoting an animated series applied to the entire critical role fandom, company, and history. Regular people are going to be seeing this trailer pop up on Amazon Prime and this is going to show up on the news as well as other places that normal people see it. I was caught between crying cuz it was so beautiful, slightly confused and disoriented because I never thought this would happen, and I felt like I was having a bit of an out-of-body dissociated experience because the odds of this kind of thing happening and all of the events that needed to happen leading up to this to allow it to happen in the first place are so infinitesimally small that it really does feel like we're in an episode of The Twilight Zone.
